T-Minus 1 Month!

Friday, July 20, 2012
Today is the 1 month mark until kiddos return to school.
Teachers return four days earlier.

The fact that we are at t-minus 1 month until school starts is CRAZY.
I have SO much to do it's not even funny.
I wish I would have taken a picture of my classroom when I left this afternoon.
One word: CHAOS.

I am hoping to make leaps and bounds in my room next week.
There is just SO much stuff everywhere and I just don't know where to put it. Yikes!
My dad is in the process of making me some great cabinets (my room has no cabinets/counters),
so once those get put in, I will have so much storage! (EXCITED!)

Anyone else feel like they are running out of time to prepare? (ME!)
Or feel like this summer has completely flown by? (ME!)
Or getting anxious and excited to meet their new students? (ME!)

On another note... I NEED HELP!
Do you any of you fabulous teachers know where I can find a decently priced brighly colored rug?
I am open to many colors... Light Blue, Pink, Lime Green, etc.
I have been searching for weeks and can't find anything.
I need this rug for my classroom library. Last year I had a blue one that I found for 30 bucks.
I need something similar for this year but I am running out of ideas.
Have you seen one? Let me know!!

Thanks for letting me ramble tonight!  And PLEASE help me find a rug! =)

  1. Have you tried Target in the kids' bedding department? I bought a couple large rugs from WalMart a few years ago, but to drag them home and wash them was a hassle. Not sure what I'll do this year (I finally threw them away).

Have you check with carpet places for remnants?

  2. Check out "college" stuff at places like Target and Walmart. My classroom rug is from when I was in college!

Don't worry-I am similarly kind of freaked out that school is so close! There is WAY too much to do! but we'll get there!

  3. Try Lakeshore Learning if you want a themed rug or the college departments at the various stores like Bed Bath and Beyond. I usually find awesome deals there. I cannot believe summer is almost over!

  4. FOr rugs try Kmart and Walmart. You can usually get really inexpensive rugs in a variety of colors (back to school stuff is awesome that way). I counted out the time too and freaked out!!! 4 weeks! Argghhh!!! I have so much to do too!

  5. Have you considered those jigsaw foam mat pieces that people put in kids' playrooms? They come in primary colours, are durable, washable and you can probably find them used at garage sales, on craigslist or your local WalMart or Target. Best of all they can be configured to fit your space. I tried rugs but they just don't hold up very well and the cute ones aren't cheap!

I've got 6 weeks before school starts but I"M already thinking 'there's not enough time'! (but I'm going on vacay for 3 of those weeks, so that may be why. LOL)

  8. hey there!
First of all, you are SO lucky that your dad is building you cabinets! I want some cabinets built! haha. Second, you should try calling some local carpet places in your area. One of my fellow third grade teachers at my school called a carpet company and they donated individual carpet squares for as many kids as she had. For free!

  9. It is very hard to believe how quickly the summer has flown by! I'm glad that I'm not the only one flabbergasted by this fact. I wish you lots of luck on finding your rug-I got mine from Garden Ridge but I know that store cannot be found in every state, sorry. That's awesome about the cabinets what a sweet daddy! Enjoy what's left of summer it sure is fading fast!

  12. I bought a great rug recently at Office Depot, multi-colored and it cost $29.99. Here is the link http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/941053/Printed-Multicolor-Rug-53-x-79/ . I really like it and a friend bought the same one for her classroom too.

  13. All my tips on the rugs are the same as the above. If you have a Meijer there that is usually where I get my rugs from. They have a bright blue one that I am loving but I just bought a new rug last year and can't justify spending the money again. :)

  14. Yikes a month, I have two weeks left and have tons to do. You should link up with Fabulous 4th Grade Froggies on her "To Do" linky party. I bought two rugs priced at $20 a piece at Walmart that I am joining together as my rug for read alouds. I didn't see any bright colored ones, but I am sure Walmart has some in the kid department.
