7 Habits...& Student Goals!

With the ringing of my (wonderful) alarm at 6:30 A.M. this morning went my winter break. =(
Does anyone else think this break went by WAY to fast?
As much as I would love another week of vacation,
I am very excited to get back to school with my kiddos.
Today and Tomorrow we have district wide professional development days.
This year we are using these two days to complete the 7 Habits Training.
We are in the beginning stages of implementing Leader in Me and this is part of the process.

Even though we won't go school wide with the Leader in Me aspects until Fall,
I have decided to start using Data Notebooks in my classroom this Spring.
I am going to go very simple with these notebooks because I don't want to over-do and fail!
I am hoping that doing a simple version this Spring will help me (and the others at my school)
be more prepared/ready in the Fall. (Wish me luck!)

Data Notebook Plans:
I plan on having the following in my students' notebooks.
-Reading Data (AR and Comprehension test scores)
-Math Data (Test scores and multiplication mastery)
-Goals (personal and academic)
-Accomplishments Pages

See what I mean? They are going to be VERY small and (hopefully) easy to manage!
I am excited to give these a try!

I thought that with the new year (and new semester) some of you guys might be able to benefit
from the goal page I am going to have my students fill out next week.
The page allows students to pick a personal and academic goal,
and students will be able to write three steps they will take to reach their goals.
Even without Data Notebooks it would be great for your students to learn
how to create and reach personal and academic goals.

If you are a Leader in Me School & use Data Notebooks,
I would love ideas, tips, and tricks!!!! =)
Fingers crossed some of you guys have done this before!

  2. We are at the same point as you are we are just starting this year as a Leader in Me School. We have been using Data Notebooks for the year so far. Not sure how they are working out because I teach self contained Special Ed. but will ask some of the other teachers what they put in them.

  5. We are in our 2nd year with the 7 habits. I find myself trying to incorporate them in everything I do. I've created a cooperative group assessment using the 7 habits language. I like your goal setting form.
