The COOLEST online consignment boutique.

I LOVE a good deal....

I love good deals SO much that I don't buy things unless they are on sale or cheap! Hah! The thing is... I like nice things, so I don't just buy things because they are cheap. A while back I stumbled across a fun website called Twice. It is an online consignment store that sells brand name women's clothing. I LOVE consignment stores so I knew this website would be perfect for me...
and it is.

All you do is head to the website and search under the different categories. Load up your cart and purchase brands like JCrew, Gap, etc. for super deep discounts. I just purchased three fun tops that I will have to show you guys once they come in!

Ways to save even more on Twice!
1) Download the app and receive a $10 credit. (This promotion was going on a few days ago and hopefully it still is for you guys!)
2) Refer friends! You get $10 for every friend that purchases something off of Twice!
3) Use the code "trendsetter" at checkout to receive an extra 15% off. (I am THAT person that always googles coupon codes. I found this one and magically... it worked! Woot!)

Another thing I LOVED about Twice is you can also sell your clothes!

The Twice website has an interactive "sellers" portal where you can search specific brands to see what amount you might receive for an item you send in. Twice sends you a back to put all of your clothes in and it ships FO' FREE. Once they receive your bag they send you an email with how much cash they will send you for your items.
***I sent in my first bag on Friday. I'll give you guys an update once they process my bag. I sent in 9 items. It included brands such as JCrew, Loft, Banana Republic, Anthro, and Theory. We will see how much money they are willing to give me for it! = )

Here is my first package getting shipped of to Twice! =)

Have any of you tried Twice? If so, I'd love to hear about your experiences. I am a newbie to this fun website so I'd love to hear from someone who has used it before. I will come back with an update when I receive my fabulous new shirts and again when Twice sends me an evaluation of the clothing I sent in! Happy Monday! =)

**Twice did not ask me to write this blog post. I just enjoy informing the online community of cool things when I find them! = ) I also can receive a store credit for each person that orders something through my referral link!

Classroom Must Haves!

At the end of the summer Pacon was SUPER kind and sent me a few boxes of goodies. Back to school craziness hit, and I neglected to show you what amazing goodies I received! This FABULOUS long weekend allowed me to get caught up and get a blog post listed!
First off, Pacon sent me a roll of their FABULOUS fadeless paper, some border, and some fun letters. I have plans for these so I am going to debut those items on a second post.

My second box contained a classroom management center and a fabulous planner...
two classroom MUST HAVES for the 2014-2015 school year!

#1 Classroom Management System

This was a fabulous surprise to receive in the mail. It comes in a flat box (it reminded me of IKEA... ha!) but it was a breeze to put together. Another thing I loved about it was that once it was all set up, it was super sturdy. It will definitely be able to handle the wear and tear that comes along with anything that goes in a classroom.

What do I plan on using this for?
I  plan on using the top three compartments for paper! Computer paper, lined paper, and colored paper. This will make grabbing paper SO easy to manage. The bottom compartments will contain extra highlighters and erasers... two things my students are always asking for!

#2 Teacher Lesson Plan Book

I loved this item for many reasons! I am always looking for a place to organize my lesson plans. This book is PERFECT. It has spots for long-term planning and weekly planning. There are lots of boxes/room and it will hold everything I need.

What is one of your classroom must haves? I'd love to know!
Don't forget to check out Pacon for all of your back to school needs!
Also, make sure to "like" the Pacon Facebook Page!

See ya later, Summer! **Freebie!

With the sounding of my alarm clock Monday morning went my summer vacation. Although I do LOVE my summer break, I am also SO excited to get this new school year underway.
New students (along with some old!!).
New grade.
New team.
It's going to be a fantastic year!

Fabulous in First Grade had such a fun idea to do a Back 2 School blog hop and giveaway! All week long some fabulous bloggers are giving some fun tips to make your first few weeks at school a success.

So...without further adieu...
I am going to give some fabulous tips on...
How to survive the first week of school!

//1//
Coffee...Lots of coffee.

//2//
Go to bed EARLY.
Wait.. who am I kidding? On the first week of school we have WAY to much to do to go to bed early. So.. refer back to #1. Hah!

//3//
Finish your room early.
Don't spend too much time decorating your classroom. Give yourself a deadline to get your room prepped and stop when you hit the deadline. It is SO easy to get worked up over what your classroom looks like that you under prep for the important first few days of school.

//4//
The more detailed plans, the better for the first few days of school.
Do you want to introduce and explain bathroom and lunchroom policies? Homework policies? Write a detailed list of procedures you want to teach so you don't leave one out! There is SO much to go over the first few days of school that it is easy to forget something important.

//5//
Breathe.
Get settled into a routine and dominate this school year.

What is your #1 tip for the first week of school!
Let me hear em! =)

Now.. hop on over to 1st Grade Fireworks for the next day of blog hopping' fun!

Wordless Wednesday: Vintage Windows

Okay y'all, I'm not going to lie. This summer, school stuff has NOT been my main focus. I am in the process of buying a house (I'm SO excited and I just can't hide it!) and I have been having so much fun looking for furniture and DIY projects for my new crib. Now that I will have a REAL home, I am working on ditching the college furniture I had for some fun, new (to me) adult furniture.

Yesterday I found two of these fabulous frames for $15/pair on a local "buying/selling" site.

So...What should I do with them?
I have been Pinterest crazy since I picked them up trying to find the perfect project for them. Let me know your thoughts and I'll make sure to show you the final product when they get finished!

Happy Wednesday!
After today... only TWO more before my summer is over. =(

Wordless Wednesday: Teamwork

This week I've been brainstorming some fun ways to encourage SYNERGY and TEAMWORK in my classroom. How do you encourage this in your classroom? I'd love to hear!

It's July!

//listening//
Does anyone else need background noise? I do! I'm "watching" the Today show while I work.

//loving//
Is anyone else LOVING the World Cup? I've got my USA tank on and I'm pumped about heading to a local brewery with 1000 of my closest friends to root for the USA today! Will you be watching?

//thinking//
Summer… Where have you gone? I go back to school at the beginning of August. I better enjoy my last month of freedom!

//wanting//
I would love to get into my classroom. I love getting it prepared early so when the back to school rush starts I don't have to worry about it. Babysitting is taking over my summer! It's good for my bank account but BAD for my classroom! hah!

//needing//
I need to work on my lesson plans because...
4th grade here I come!

I still see myself as a relatively *new* teacher,but its been nice to have been in the same grade for three years.I am EXCITED and a little nervous to move to a new grade.
So much new stuff to learn! But also... so much new stuff I can create!
Let me know your favorite 4th grade blogs!

//4th plans//
I love the 4th! Whether it's hanging out with family or going to the lake, it always seems like there is something fun going on! This year I will be hanging close to home, but my fam will hit up a massive rummage sale and catch the fireworks at night.

Happy July and Happy 4th of July!
Also.. GO USA! Turn on those TVs and watch this afternoon!

Sweet Summertime...

Wow... it has been over a month since I last blogged.
I love blogging, but I have really been enjoying my summer.
We got out the last week in May
and I have been on full force summer mode since then.
Today.. for the first time since school got out... I worked on school stuff.
"Summer mode" has been fun but it's time to get back in school prep mode action!

What have I been doing?

I spent a few days relaxing on the beach right after school got out!

 Then I headed on a 10 day mission trip!
God's creation is absolutely stunning.
Thankful for the opportunity to explore his creation
and to share his word.

Unfortunately the adventures are basically over for the summer.
Now it's time to prep and plan for next year...
let the countdown to August begin!

What adventures have you gotten yourself into?
I'd love to hear! =)

It's MAY!

A new month means it's time for a new currently! Love this linky!

But first… I must share this hilarious meme that was circulating yesterday.
Love me some Justin and N'Sync!
(I should have posted this yesterday but it's too good not to post even though I'm a day late!)

Now time for May's Currently…
Thanks for the link up Farley!

//1//
I LOVE HGTV. Yes. I do. I watch it WAY to much.

//2//
Found out this week I am going to have a NIECE. I am soooo stinkin' excited!

//3//
Today felt like a Friday ALL day. Boo. We left early on Monday due to severe weather and didn't have school at all on Tuesday due to the weather so this should have been an easy week. Why am I so tired?

//4//
I am obsessed with brownies. They are my favorite dessert. I bake them way too much… I am actually baking some now. All for me.

//5//
I am in love with the cute Mother's Day crafts Jennifer over at First Grade Blue Skies just posted about earlier today. I am going to have to find some time in our crazy testing schedule to make them!

Well, I'm off to watch HGTV, eat brownies, and shortly after that I'll head to bed.

End of the year MOTIVATION!

With SUN, SAND, and SUMMER VACATION just around the corner…
How do you keep your students motivated and engaged?
We haven't even started standardized testing and I can already feel
the kids getting chattier and more eager for summer.

Point of View (CC Edition)…Giveaway Alert!

When I think of point of view I think of 1st or 3rd point of view.
Isn't that what you think?
Well, in 3rd grade, our point of view standard is a bit different.
Common Core states that in third grade students should be able to…
"Distinguish their own point of view from that of the narrator or those of the characters".
I see this being more like perspective.
How is your perspective similar or different to the author or characters?
This standard basically builds a foundation for students to learn the different types of point of view when they get to fourth grade.

I REALLY enjoyed teaching this standard because it allowed for lots of fun read alouds. As we read we decided if our point of view was the same or different than the author/characters. We would then discuss how and why they were different.

Two great books we read included:
-"Two Bad Ants"
-"McElligot's Pond"
I borrowed both of these books and I am going to buy them ASAP for my classroom library. They were both SUPER cute and helped teach this standard very well.

To finish the week I created some task cards to assess my student's individual understanding of these standards (There is also a nonfiction point of view standard we covered at the same time). They read each task card and responded to the question at the end of the passage. Students had to determine the author/characters point of view and determine if they felt the same way or not. Students seemed to really enjoy this activity.
(Sidenote: This is my first TPT item that I have created with Melonheadz clipart and I am OBSESSED. I now want to buy every collection of clipart in her store. They are too cute!)

How do you teach the new common core standards in your classroom?
I'd love some more fun ideas to add to my file for next year!

Leave any type of comment for a chance to win a free set of these task cards!
I will pick a winner this week! =)

The EASY way to coupon.

This is totally not teaching related but this is something I found and LOVE and I just had to share! I've mentioned this app to several friends and to my surprise they didn't know about it. Back to educational stuff sooooooon! =)

I LOVE Target.
Sometimes I think I might even be obsessed with it.
(Just like I am obsessed with Stitch Fix
shopping problem perhaps? Hah!)
My wallet, however, does NOT like it...
but it does love Cartwheel.
What is Cartwheel you ask?
It is a fabulous Target coupon app.

Want to buy eggs? No problem.
Just search for an eggs coupon in your app.
Want a new shirt? No problem.
Just search for shirts in your app.

You won't always find what you need, but you might be surprised how often you will discover that Target has a coupon you could (and should) be using. My favorite part of this app is that the coupons store in your app and when you get to the cash register you simply show the bar code that is located in Cartwheel. They scan the coupon and... taddaaaa you have save all sorts of moolah and you no longer have to feel guilty for buying things you don't need at Target. =)
Do you have an App that helps you save and coupon?
Let me hear it!

FAVORITE Mail Day!!

I know y'all have heard me talk about Stitch Fix... It's probably one of my favorite things right now.
Seriously.. the day's when I know I have one coming in the mail I look forward to it ALL day long! Hah!
In case you haven't heard of it, I'll give you a quick recap…

Basically it's a fashion website where you have your own personal stylist. You sign up for a "fix" and your personal stylist sends you 5 unique pieces of clothing and accessories based on a detailed style report you fill out. You have three days to check out the clothes, and then you send back (free shipping) the ones you don't want. The only financial commitment is a $25 styling fee that you can put towards any item you purchase.

Alright… Are y'all ready to see what I got?
I am IN LOVE.
#1
This dress is ADORABLE.
Best part? It's long enough. It's now hanging in my closet.
Definitely a keeper!

#2
This necklace was cute, but not worth the price tag.
I'm not a HUGE jewelry person.

#3
I seriously LOVED this tank top...
Unfortunately it ran a bit small. =(

#4
This shirt was super cute. It was patterned with little tiny elephants. So cute! I liked this top and the fit but I don't really have a need for it so I made the wisest decision and sent it back.

#5
I also LOVED this tank. The picture doesn't really do it justice.
Unfortunately this take was too big. =(
It broke my heart to send both of those adorable tanks back.

Another super-fun thing about Stitch Fix is that now I have seen and tried on these 5 items, I go back to the website and report to my stylist what I thought about each item. This way my stylist can try to make some changes for my next fix. I can totally tell the difference in my first fix and now. My stylist has definitely learned more about my style. The color schemes and styles were right up my alley!

So, have I convinced you to try it yet? You won't be disappointed!
Go to the Stitch Fix website and sign up. You give them your email and then in the next day or two you will get an invite to sign up. You will fill out your style profile and then you can order your first fix. Give it a one time try or you can sign up for monthly fixes. If you sign up, let me know. I want to see what fabulous fixes you receive! =)

Motivational Quote Monday

I absolutely LOVE motivational quotes.
Throughout high school and college I would find fun quotes and post them in my bedroom, in my planner or even on a mirror to help encourage or motivate me. I continue to love using fun quotes even in my professional career.

Even though I still personally enjoy posting them around for myself to see, I also enjoy finding fun quotes that I believe my students would understand and be motivated by. I have a large white board at the back of my classroom that often is left empty. It is old, not magnetic and NOTHING will stick to it (no tape is strong enough…Hah!) so I often find myself writing fun quotes for my students to read and reflect on.
Last weekend I stumbled upon the PERFECT quote for my classroom. My school is using the Leader in Me program and we are always talking about what characteristics and traits make up a leader. I think this quote will be a great reminder for my students. I can't wait to share it with my students this week. I can't wait to see what discussion arises from it as well!

I tried to figure out who wrote it but I had no luck.
If you know what creative mind first said this, please let me know! =)
If you can use this poster in your room I'd love for you to grab it through the link below!

Do you have a favorite quote?
I'd love to hear it!
I'll need a new one for my big white board soon! =)

High Five for Friday!

//1//
THANK GOODNESS for daylight savings! My long commute has been beautiful this week. I am loving the sun shining down on me on my drive home instead of it setting on me. Hah!

//2//
I just need to give my personal laminator a shout out. It was quite possibly the best purchase I've made as a teacher. It comes in handy so much!

//3//
We've been deep in space this week and the kiddos have really enjoyed learning about each of the planets. They have been using these posters to research about planet sizes, distances from the sun, etc. Find these fun activities on TPT here!

//4//
Another reason daylight savings is so stinkin' awesome is because I can actually get things accomplished at night. Car wash for the win!
*On a side note… does anyone else HATE car washes? My car got stuck once and the car behind me hit my car and then I was pushed into the car in front of me. I was literally screaming in my car because all I could do was watch it happen. I couldn't open my door or everything would get wet. Luckily everyone was moving slow enough that it did no damage but it for sure stressed me out! Now I live in fear whenever it's time for a car wash. Hah!

//5//
I am officially half a century old today. YIKES!
Looking forward to fun with friends celebrating this weekend. =)

Happy Friday, Y'all!
